Beta Brain Wave
The beta brain wave state is your conscious state of mind. At beta your eyes are open and you are wide awake and alert. In this state you are able to live, focus and do your day to day activities.
The beta state can be broken into separate levels, which gives rise to the reasons why certain emotional conditions can happen - ADD, depressions, anxieties are mental states where beta rhythms change in frequency.
Our beta brain wave state is used often, yet receives information to act from the deeper states such as Alpha, and Theta. In a Beta state you are wide awake and ready to take on tasks that challenge you mentally and physically.
Beta helps when you attend a meeting, play sport or are doing an activity that requires you to concentrate. Notice the difference in performance in these activities if you have over-slept, turn up tired or are under stress. In these states the Beta brain wave levels are not at their peak performance levels.
If you have just woken, your brain can slip in and out of an alpha-beta level quickly. This is why most of you can’t remember dreams, as when you try you go to Beta, where it is harder to recall the Alpha dreams. On the flip side, if you are in a meeting and feeling tired, the Beta brain wave levels you need for concentration tend to fade to the relaxed and sleepy Alpha patterns.
But first ... what is Beta Brain Wave?
Alertness
Concentration
Cognition
Your mind is sharp, focused. It makes connections quickly, easily and you're primed to do work that requires your full attention. In the Beta brain wave state, neurons (brain cells) fire abundantly, in rapid succession, helping you achieve peak performance. New ideas and solutions to problems flash like lightning into your mind.
Beta level of mind helps you prepare to take an exam, play sports, give a presentation, analyze and organize information and other activities where mental alertness and high levels of concentration is the key to your success.
Beta brain waves range between 12-40 HZ. The Beta state is associated with peak concentration, heightened alertness, hand eye coordination and visual acuity. Nobel Prize Winner Sir Francis Crick and other scientists believe that the 40HZ beta frequency may be the key to the act of cognition.
Fact: Science has proven the Beta Brain Wave does this...
Here is the science stuff - Beta works at above 12 Hz.
Beta activity is 'fast' activity. It is generally regarded as a normal rhythm and is the dominant rhythm in those who are alert or anxious or who have their eyes open.
The beta band has a relatively large range, and has been divided into low, midrange and high.
Low Beta (12-15 Hz)
Subjective feeling states: relaxed yet focused, integrated
Associated tasks & behaviors: low Beta can reflect "ADD", lack of focused attention
Physiological correlates: is inhibited by motion; restraining body may increase SMR
ADD and other attention disorders are related to being in low Beta for long periods of time. This state occurs when the energy levels in the body are depleted and you can’t maintain higher levels of Beta during your waking day.
Stress relief
activities will help to remove stress and also promote energy. If stress levels are low and energy is high, it is easier to maintain the higher Beta brain wave levels constantly throughout the day.
Although stress relief works mainly on the Alpha and Theta brain levels, releasing stress in these states accelerates the Beta level and helps to ‘clean the wiring’ of the brain.
If you function better energetically and emotionally, then all brain wave states are enhanced.
Midrange Beta (15-18 Hz)
Subjective feeling states: thinking, aware of self & surroundings
Associated tasks & behaviors: mental activity
Physiological correlates: alert, active, but not agitated
This is the state of Beta that we should be constantly in…alert, active and relaxed. Remaining stress free (or at least in lower levels of stress), this Beta brain wave level helps in your IQ, mental alertness and mental abilities. Ideal for all sports, business and work related activities.
High Beta (above 18 Hz)
Subjective feeling states: alertness, agitation
Associated tasks & behaviors: mental activity, e.g. math, planning, etc.
Physiological correlates: general activation of mind & body functions.
In these deeper levels of Beta: our cognitive abilities increase, but at a cost. Mental activity can increase and you are able to solve problems easily, however it can leave you feeling agitated and unsettled.
Being in a relaxed state of Beta still allows you to access these levels temporarily for your benefit. It is this ability that allows the higher learning abilities, without the agitation and unsettled nature.
Using
stress relief techniques
to keep focussed, relaxed and calm allows access to all levels of mind. While staying calm you are able to use the higher Beta levels for examinations, peak performance in sports, meetings and interviews.
You can improve your Beta Brain wave with simple, proven techniques...
... if you want to improve your peak potential for work or sport this is essential
The deeper states of mind in the subconscious are able to program the mind while in Beta to perform at higher levels. The conscious mind is the servant… the subconscious is the master.
Improving the subconscious mind will have positive benefits on the conscious or Beta mind levels.
Stress relief techniques
help to not only improve the subconscious mind; they also accelerate the benefits of the conscious and Beta brain wave state.
