Chakra Meditation Techniques

Proven ancient ways to open your chakras - finally revealed!


What are chakra meditation techniques? Do you know what your chakras are for? Can you open them to eliminate stress and super-charge your energy? Knowing what chakras are and what they do, helps when using any meditation technique.

The reason is simple; each chakra has a color, organs and emotions associated with it. Knowing these helps you to visualize the chakras, which aids the opening of your chakras. For a general overview of the chakra system click here After all, knowledge is the key.


Opening your chakras requires an easy to use and understand … how to meditate … approach. Meditating is supposed to relax, calm and quiet the mind. It can also be used to open the chakras just as easily.

But first ...

Do you want to open your chakras - there are simple, ancient proven ways for you to do this ...

Below are simple chakra meditation techniques which you can break down into parts. You can use the entire process if it ‘fits for you’. Or use the parts you find easiest and most beneficial.


There are four parts to open the chakras using the chakra meditation techniques:

  1. Ask for the chakra to be opened
  2. Hold a Mudra (hand position) that helps open the chakra
  3. Visualize the color of the chakra
  4. Imagine and visualize the chakra opening, becoming larger and functioning correctly.


Whichever area you find easiest to do … use. I personally find it hard to visualize, so I skips parts 3 and 4. I use the mudra to meditate with, and meditate for a few minutes on each as I need.

Trust your intuition to guide you, meditating using the chakra meditation techniques can be as short as a few minutes for each chakra. You can meditate for 30 minutes or more on each if you desire. Again, personally I only ever meditate for a few minutes on each, I also use the chakra meditation techniques only every month or so.

Once the chakras are functioning well, meditation in any form will help to maintain them. It is good to check them every so often, to give them a boost.




Ready to use ... Chakra Meditation Techniques

... finally an easy way for you to use ...


The Mudras below are used to open up the Chakras. To open the chakras, place your hands in the position described. Then relax, close your eyes and ask for the chakra to be open and functioning correctly.

Then visualize the color of the chakra emanating from the location and imagine or visualize the chakra becoming larger and larger. The color becoming brighter and brighter, feel the warmth of color, feel the emotions of the chakra and imagine the organs filling up with energy and light.

Keep this process going for a few minutes or longer if you wish.

Alternatively you may take a mudra each day and use the chakra meditation techniques to open the desired chakra. There are seven days and seven chakras, start with the base chakra as it is best to work from the base to the crown.

If you wish to do a complete cycle of the chakras each day, then once you complete your visualization and the chakra is beaming with color. Move up to the next chakra and repeat the process.

Once all are open, imagine and ask for them all to be in balance and imagine all the colors of the rainbow washing over and around your body.




Open the Root Chakra

Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch. Concentrate on the Root chakra at the spot in between the genitals and the anus.

The Root chakra, being the first chakra, is the most physical one. This means that any activity that makes one more aware of the body will strengthen this chakra. Visualize the color red, the organs associated are the spine, adrenal glands (which sit on top of the kidney), it also relates to the circulation.


Open the Umbilical Chakra

Put your hands in your lap, palms up, on top of each other. Left hand underneath, its palm touching the back of the fingers of the right hand. The tips of the thumbs touch gently. Concentrate on the Umbilical chakra at the belly button.

It is colored orange and it is associated with the hormonal system.


Open the Solar Chakra

Put your hands before your stomach, slightly below your solar plexus. Let the fingers join at the tops, all pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs. It is important to straighten the fingers. Concentrate on the Solar chakra located over your stomach area at the base of the rib cage.

It is colored yellow and relates to the liver, gall bladder, stomach, spleen, kidneys and diaphragm, small intestine. As it relates to confidence, imagining or visualizing being full of confidence, self-esteem and self-worth also helps to open this chakra.


Open the Heart Chakra

Sit cross-legged. Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch. Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breast bone (so a bit above the solar plexus). Concentrate on the Heart chakra at the spine, level with the heart.

It is colored green and relates to the thymus (immunity), heart and lungs, upper back. It relates to love, so imagining being filled with love and feeling secure helps to open this chakra.


Open the Throat Chakra

Cross your fingers on the inside of your hands, without the thumbs. Let the thumbs touch at the tops, and pull them slightly up. Concentrate on the Throat chakra at the base of the throat.

It is colored sky blue and relates to the throat, thyroid and neck. As it relates to speaking up or out for yourself, imagining being able to speak in a crowd or similar also helps to open the chakra.


Open the Third Eye Chakra

Put your hands before the lower part of your breast. The middle fingers are straight and touch at the tops, pointing forward. The other fingers are bended and touch at the upper two phalanges. The thumbs point towards you and touch at the tops. Concentrate on the Third Eye chakra slightly above the point between the eyebrows.

The third eye is colored indigo, which is between sky blue and violet. A deep blue similar to a deep ocean blue. Physically the third eye chakra relates to the sinus and upper Respiratory system, eyes and ears. As it relates to intuition and creativity, imagine being creative and coming up with new and vibrant ideas.


Open the Crown Chakra

Put your hands before your stomach. Let the ring fingers point up, touching at their tops. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right. Concentrate on the Crown chakra at the top of your head.

The crown chakra is colored purple/violet and relates to the brain and nervous system. As it is the connection to the universe as well as happiness, visualizing being happy and content helps to open this chakra.


Warning: don't use the chakra meditation techniques for the Crown chakra while you don't have a strong Root chakra (you need a strong foundation first).
