Children react differently when they are tired. If a parent is tired they want to sleep. If a child is tired (especially in the early stages of stress tiredness), they want to speed up.
Why?
They don’t want to miss out on anything. If you are asleep, you may miss out on that TV show, game or whatever. They force themselves to keep going. Parents also allow and encourage this.
Children then become fatigued. Energy goes down and stress goes up. Poor behavior starts, immune function drops and health deteriorates. All from just being tired initially and not resting.
This also happens when they have too much activity in their lives. Activity includes school, after school groups, television, computers and console games. All these activities require energy to do the activities. The more time they spend in these activities, the greater the fatigue and ...the greater their stress levels.

As life is hectic and complex for parents and children, stresses are increasing. Symptoms increase from the pressures at school and home. Watching television, computers and console games. Foods and take-aways all add to these stresses and make the symptoms worse.

If parents are stressed and wound up … children react.
Most parents are aware of the weekends where you have had a busy and hectic week. You want a lie in bed and a quiet relaxed day or two. Your children decide that this is the weekend they will wake up at 5am, want to annoy you constantly and generally misbehave.
