You will find many different definitions of stress. From the overly clinical to definitions in lay people terms. But the truth is this ... stress is anything you expend energy on.

Good stress is where you expend energy on something and you get back more energy than you spent. Exercise for example is a good stress. As you become fitter and healthier it returns more energy and has an anti-stress effect. There are many other good stresses that create a benefit to your health and stress levels.

Bad stress is where you expend energy and either get nothing back or less than you spent. Most emotional stresses fit this category. Worry, anxiety, grief etc are activities you spend energy on and feel depleted after and during the activity.
