Your hormonal system especially is involved. The hormonal system drives your body to keep going, especially if energy levels decline. The problem is you have a ‘hormonal cycle’ (Yes, men too!). The cycle has up-swings and down-swings. On the up-swing you can feel relatively okay.
On the down-swing your depressed feelings are that much greater.
Chronic
depression occurs when this state continues and habits form. Once you are habitually depressed, chronic depression takes over.
The health problems you have, the greater your stress levels or the less able you are to cope with stress also can lead into …
severe
depression.
Even though being depressed is just a response to energy drops, certain health areas and your ability to cope with stress … it is real!
You may have been told … ‘being depressed is all in your mind’. This is not true. Being depressed is as much a physical problem as it is emotional.
Just notice how your body feels … in a depressed state you feel heavy, lethargic, you may even get more coughs and colds, an upset digestion, headaches and many other problems.

Most of you who are depressed will no doubt have been down the medical route … medication and therapy.
Both can be effective, but they don’t get to the
underlying causes
of your depression.
Medication is for symptom relief … and symptom relief only. This is not a bad thing; you don’t want to feel depressed, do you?
Medication has its’ place, but you should be looking to eliminate the cause and then you won’t need to be medicated.
As for therapy … 10 years later …and you can still be going through the same old issues of your past.
