How to Meditate

Would you like to meditate like a monk ... and be able to do this in just a few minutes time ...

... meditation made easy ... as it should be!

Do you want to know how to meditate? Have you tried before but failed? Does meditation seem almost an impossible task?

If it does ... you are probably not learning correctly.

Meditation is the easiest task you will ever do ... if you learn to meditate as it was originally intended.

My task is to teach you the best and simplest ways to meditate so you gain all the benefits meditation has to offer.

Learning how to meditate should be easy. Meditation is a tool to reduce stress, not increase stress. So learning meditation should be simple and easy.

Meditation techniques have become complex and difficult. You will hear it takes years to master, that you need to meditate night and morning for an hour or more, for it to be effective.

Meditation is and always was simple. It is just a process of slowing and calming the mind. Once the mind becomes quiet, all the benefits of meditation occur, without you actively doing anything.

The mind automatically releases stress, increases energy, improves your health and has the amazing anti-ageing effects. All from just making your mind still and calm.

Learning how to meditate is simple. All you need is

  • a space where you can meditate
  • a small amount of time (15-60 minutes when you start to learn, you need less as you become familiar with the techniques)
  • and finally a simple process to follow.

Step One - Meditation for Beginners

... the most important step ... master this and you master the art of meditating

Like any task, you need to start at the beginning. Most of you, like me, want to jump in and meditate like a Zen or Buddhist Monk immediately. There are ways to do this which we will get into soon. But first …

The first step to meditate is to teach your mind to become less active. Just slow it down where you have less thoughts racing through your mind.

It sounds simple, but it can be hard to achieve. You live in a world where mental pressures are higher than ever before. As such this creates mental stimulation which turns into thoughts. Most of you, like I did, will find it hard to just ‘switch off’.

Slowing the mind is the first step to learn to meditate. Once you can slow the mind, meditation is easy. It is just following a simple process to access the levels of mind you desire.

Learning meditation traditionally requires you to slow your mind and then access the mind for the many benefits meditation brings. Meditation in this form is in my opinion still the best way. Why?

You learn to meditate, which means you can meditate without CD’s or tapes. You learn how to meditate anywhere and anytime. You can meditate in a few minutes by just slowing and calming the mind. And there are simple ways to slow the mind, you don’t need to endure any hardships, live in a cave or sell any possessions.

And now ... the instructions how to meditate ...

To slow the mind is actually a simple process. Just follow the simple (and I know they do seem too simple) steps below ...

Step One:

Choose to sit, stand or lie down, you can even do this while you are walking.

Step Two:

Tell yourself for the next 3 minutes you will think of nothing at all! Yes literally tell yourself to think of nothing (and yes it is possible to stop thinking).

Step Three:

Just sit, stand, lie or walk and watch your mind. Just observe your mind, notice the hundreds and thousands of thoughts that occur. Don't chase them away ... just observe them. This is the most important step (this is the how to meditate "golden rule")

Step Four:

Time ... each day do the process and with time your thoughts will fade and you will gain a clear, calm and quiet mind. It is as simple and easy as that!

A simple process that if you follow will give you all the benefits of years of meditating. Knowing how to meditate is easy ... it just takes time ...

But ... if you don't have the time to wait ... is there a simpler way?

Yes. But there is one problem though …

You probably just want to know how to meditate now. You are like thousands of others ...just a very impatient person. You want the benefits of meditation now, not in months or years to come…

So what can you do?

Thanks to modern technology there is a simple solution or two.

Research into meditation has lead to the discovery and development of new meditative technology.

Achieving deep levels of meditation can be gained listening to sound waves. These sound waves place your mind into the same state of someone who has meditated for years. The communication in your brain increases astronomically and all the benefits of meditation can be gained from the moment you start.

These methods do require the use of CD’s and take 30 minutes or so initially to train the mind to get to these levels. But they work and work well. I am a product of these methods and I still use two of the best around most days.

I still use the traditional methods though. Why?

If I am alone and wish to meditate … I can. Without a CD player, anywhere and anytime. I can also meditate for just a few minutes, as the more you practice the quicker meditation becomes. So I get the best of both worlds … the traditional Eastern … and the modern Western methods.

Combining all the techniques allows you to take the best of each and apply it. What you find best and easiest may differ from what I find best. So the more you learn, the more you use, the better. Knowledge is the key after all.

But let’s learn more on how to meditate. There are a few techniques which I will discuss briefly, so you can find which you identify with. The more you know the more likely you will choose the best way for you to learn how to meditate.
