The best answer to all these questions is to prevent the bird flu happening.
How can you stop the Bird Flu?
Bird flu needs to be explained in simple terms and in simple to follow steps. Making it confusing or too complicated will ultimately cause you, the public, to fail in your attempts to prevent bird flu.
The first thing to understand is this …
Bird flu is just an Influenza virus, like all viruses the best prevention is using three steps:
Boost Your Immune System
- There are those saying that even if you have good health, you can still catch the bird flu. This is not true!
Health is measured by most by the amount of symptoms you have now. Health is not being symptom free … it is being healthy, having good resistance to all illness, having good organ function and having low stress levels.

At any given moment you breathe in about 150 million viruses and bacteria.
So why do you not have a permanent infection?
Your immune system fights, kills and removes these viruses and bacteria … if it is working well.
A good functioning immune system will do two things
- help prevent infections occurring
- reduce the severity if you do get an infection
Boosting your immune system to fight all viruses, not just the bird flu, is the main key to prevent bird flu.
How can you boost your Immune system?
Improve Your General Health
- It is not just your immune system that is involved in any infection, including bird flu.
Your respiratory system, especially your upper respiratory system, is your first line of defense.
Energy and stress levels affect your immune system.
Any bodily system if it is not functioning correctly will put a strain on your ability to fight any infection.
Even certain structural complaints, especially upper back pain, can alter your resistance to illness.
Having good general health aids your resistance to bird flu. Good general health will also reduce the severity of any symptoms and speed your recovery rates when fighting infections.
Maintaining good general health and using prevention for all health problems will give you good resistance and help prevent bird flu.

Good Hygiene Methods
- The bird flu at present is only being contracted by direct exposure to the bird flu virus.
If it mutates and spreads from human to human, the previous methods are your best prevention plan.
Good hygiene is important now and it will be more important if it does mutate.
So what should you do?
Good hygienic measures to avoid potentially spreading the virus through food are:
- Separate raw meat from cooked or ready to eat foods and do not use the same chopping board or knife
- Do not handle raw and cooked meat without washing your hands
- Do not place cooked meat back on the same plate or surface it was on before cooking
- Do not use raw or soft boiled eggs in food preparation that will not be cooked
- After handling frozen or thawed raw chicken or eggs, wash you hands thoroughly with soap. Also wash surfaces and areas that have been in contact with raw meat.
- Cook poultry thoroughly to reach 70 degrees C or that the meat is not pink.
- Egg yolks should not be runny or liquid
These are guidelines used in general food preparation anyway. Food bought in your supermarket or local food store will not have the bird flu virus. Any imported chicken is checked, not just for bird flu, but for many different organisms and bugs/insects.
Remember, the bird flu virus is killed with cooking. Chicken should always be eaten cooked until juices are clear, which will kill any virus. Eggs are safe if they are locally produced, which they will be.
Following these simple steps will allow you to prevent bird flu easily. Bird flu prevention is something you can do now. If the worst happens and the bird flu does spread, then your resistance levels are the key to preventing bird flu.
If by chance you do become infected, having good immune function and high general health will allow any medication to work quicker and more effectively.
Bird flu can be prevented, to prevent bird flu you just need to be healthy. So start now and learn to prevent bird flu easily. Prevention is easier than cure.
