Sports and Stress

Yes ... sport can reduce your stress ... only if you play the right sport!

Sports and Stress - they go hand in hand. Certain sport will create stress (golf - a very frustrating sport) and others will reduce stress.

Do you know which sport is best? Which sport will allow your stress to melt away? Which sport is too stressful and should be avoided at all costs?

Sports and Stress Relief are one of the most efficient and effective ways at dropping stress levels quickly. So what sport is best... for you?

Sports and Stress Relief ... The ultimate in good health.

All sports activities are good for you. You are told that you need to exercise more, get outdoors and drop your stress levels. Playing sport will reduce your stress levels.

Which sport is best to remove stress?

You can break sport into two types... individual or team sports. There are also the social or competitive varieties. To choose the best sport, you need to balance sport against your working life

If you work in a physical job... do a less physical sport. This way you won't be adding extra stress to your muscles and joints. Gravity is your biggest stress, as you constantly fight it; you sit or stand most of the day. Adding to the gravity stress by pounding your joints is not good…. especially if you already have physical health complaints.

If you work in a mentally demanding job... Use sport to relieve mental pressures. If you are very competitive, choose a sport that either always lets you win or one where competition is low. Creating more stress while playing sport will not help to drop your stress levels.

There are numerous sports that are 90% mental and 10% physical. These are not good if you are already highly stressed, unless you can take a relaxed, less competitive, less stressful approach to that sport. Sports and stress relief should be fun, not stressful.

If you work alone... play a team sport. This way it helps to relieve the stresses created by being your own boss, working alone etc. Friendships form, camaraderie develops and you can even talk to someone about work that has an independent viewpoint.

If you work as a team and it's stressful... Play a solitary, relaxing sport. This helps to create the balance you need to reduce your stress levels.

Best of all, play sport for enjoyment. Have fun, compete at a level you enjoy, socialize with team mates, but use sport to remove stress, not add to it.

You still need to Reduce Stress...

Sport and stress relief is ideal, it creates fun, enjoyment and that all important health gain. Sport is just one of the many stress relief activities that help to balance your life. Adding sports to your stress relief goals is great, but use other techniques during the day to allow sport to be more fun and rewarding.

Stress relief on a daily basis is the key. Use simple techniques that are fast and easy to do, at work or home. Playing sport and using stress relief activities will help to give you a quality of life, which will increase your quantity of life also. Playing Sport and Stress relief are ideal partners.
