Life as a college student is complex. No longer are you classed as a child or adolescent, you are now an adult. You are expected to behave accordingly and use adult concepts.
This is still a time where you feel young, look young but suddenly have all the added adult stresses.
College life with all the study and pressures is different to school life. You have chosen to go to college; you haven't been forced to be there. Life is different.
As you have a choice, college staff have the same view for you. Learning is more self directed; your tutors and lecturers will not hound you to get work done. Nobody will force you to study to pass exams.

The levels of stress and college student lives are tough, because of the changes that occur. You still want to play have fun, but you still need to study. Balance is essential.

Study ... Mental stress is the worst stress there is. Studying is mental stress multiplied by two. Why? When you study, it is a 24 hour, 7 day a week job. You are either studying, thinking you should be studying or thinking you could be studying better. Life is not like the movies ... minimal study, lots of parties and everyone passes exams. Every day there are issues on your mind. Assignments due, exams approaching or projects on the go. Every day there is something to plan for, to be done or to analyze whether it was done well. The worst stress and college students will testify to this, is studying. The pressures are huge, deadlines must be met and life depends on the outcomes of your studies. To balance this area is the essential nature of college life. How do you remove stresses from college life? Improve your mental abilities, study smart not hard, reduce stress and increase energy, be healthy and learn to have regular breaks. Sounds simple doesn't it? It is if you use ways that are
simple.
Rome wasn't built in a day, it took day to day work to build it. The same applies. Each day make changes using simple techniques to improve every facet of college life. Then study becomes easier, quicker and more effective. College students can play and work ... in balance.
Time ... college studies are done to set your career in motion. The competition for jobs, the pressures of study affect our ability to do as well as we want. Each chosen career path has its' difficulties. From the first day of college, the light at the end of the tunnel, meaning when you finish college is very far away. Being told you have 2, 3 or more years to complete your studies, before you get to where you want, is daunting. Your career path is set, the time it takes to get there is set also. Having a balance between studying and living helps health to stay high and stresses low. Managing time is essential ... study smart, have breaks and enjoy student life, you are there for a few years, make them enjoyable.
Survival ... survival stress sounds strange for college life. As a student you need to study and survive. You need to eat, earn and look after yourself. Life suddenly becomes full. No longer are the days when you can go home to a hot cooked meal, clothes washed, and beds made. You now have to do this yourself. If you are one of the students that still have this luxury. By doing this, they are relieving a very important stress and college students need low stress levels to do well. Along with looking after yourself, college students need part-time work to earn money. Money needed for transport, books, food and entertainment. Again, if this isn't an issue; thank all those involved that help. College students have to survive. Survive with study and survive with life in general. Removing stress, managing time and being healthy gives you the best ammunition to do this. High stress and college student life shouldn't mix. Stresses are always going to be there ... managing them is essential.
